Chennaiyin FC is the Indian football franchise based on Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The main owners of the franchise are Vita Dani, Bollywood Actor Abhishek Bachchan, Indian Cricket Team Skipper Mahindra Singh Dhoni. The club started playing in 2014 at the inaugural edition of Indian Super League. They are the reigning champions of ISL after winning the league title in 2015. They are also called as Blue Devils but the locals prefer Marina Machans. Their home ground Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium preferably called as Marina Arena holds the total of 26,476 seats.
As their team players Elano Blumer , A Brazilian footballer currently playing in Santos and John stiven Mendoza, Columbian currently loaned out at New York city FC won the Golden boots at the first two seasons of ISL , they are also known as Home of Golden Boots.
Marco Materazzi, Italian world cup winner currently managing Chennaiyin FC. After the end of his contract as Manager/ player in 2015, he renewed his contract in June 2016 as manager.

The club started its journey in ISL with a 2-1 victory against FC Goa on Oct 2014. Balwanth Singh , first Indian to score in Indian Super League belongs to Chennaiyin FC . The club signed John Arne Riise after his retirement from professional football as the Marque Player this year.
