Chennaiyin FC first win against Northeast United in Indian super League

David Succi, A new hope for Chennai.

Davide Succi’s Thrilling volley was something that NorthEast could never come back from. The home side did attack but Chennaiyin’s defence, led by Bernard Mendy, was more than up for the task.
Chennaiyin now looks to be in good form. After a rather slow start in which they were held to a 1-1 draw against Atletico de Kolkata and then slipped to a 1-3 defeat at home against Delhi Dynamos, Chennaiyin defeated  FC Goa, a team at the lower mid table of the league  2-0 and have now followed it up with a rather unexpected victory with NorthEast United’s ground in front of their thunderous crowd.
Manager Nelo Vingada will be hoping that they don’t throw off the good start they have got with performances like these.
The return of Bernard Mendy is certainly an advantage for Chennaiyin FC but this undoubtedly one of their biggest challenges of the season. inspite  their last match being a 1-1 draw, NorthEast have proven that they are the team to beat this season.
Chennaiyin FC might have been a best team last season by winning the trophy, but they have to forget their vist to Guwahati. It all ended in disaster for Marco Materazzi’s side last season when Harmanjyot Khabra was sent off, players were involved in skirmishes and they lost 0-2.
Even in the first year, NorthEast stunned Chennaiyin FC, then leading the table, with a flurry of goals in the first session.
Materazzi will hope to change away his record in Guwahati and having won against FC Goa, will not be short on his confidence.
Chennaiyin FC registered their first win this season after putting it across FC Goa 2-0 in an early repeat of last year’s final. Goals from Hans Mulder and Mehrajuddin Wadoo in the first half were enough to collect full points after a draw against Atletico de Kolkata and loss against Delhi Dynamos.
We came in with a whole new mentality and what I told my players is that if we put the heart in, the will, the hunger, then we can win. If not then we are not the same team and we can be at the bottom of the table, said Materazzi.
Succi's goal made them to continue their first win to a two win run and trashed the unbeaten record of NorthEast against Chennaiyin. Now Chennaiyin moves up four positions and placed second in the league with 7 points ( 2 win , 1 draw, 1 loss).
