Eight time German Bundesliga Champions Borussia Dortmund are all set to visit India on a off season friendly. Since Tata Trusts and U Dream Football announced their partnership with the German outfits, this friendly seems to be possible. It seems that there is a good chance that Borussia Dortmund will come to India to play a couple of friendly matches in the summer of 2019.

“I am told that they [Borussia Dortmund] might come to India but nothing is certain at the moment. They definitely have plans to visit India during the off-season since the Indian market is very big for European clubs. Whether that happens this year or the next remains to be seen though,” - The source said
Hoffenheim, another outfits from Bundesliga visited India in 2014 for a post-season tour and played a friendly against Mizoram XI in Aizawl. Dietmar Hopp, founder of Hoffenheim also have a partnership with U Dream Football for grassroots developments of football in India. They also set up an arrangement that allows the talented kids from India to train a six-year long training program in Hoffenheim, by which 35 Indian kids have been sent to Hoffenheim last year.
Dortmund's entry into Indian football's grassroot scene suggests that bid European clubs are looking to tap the footballing potential of India. Christian Diercks, Borussia Dortmund's soccer school coach had his take on agreement with Tata Trusts and U Dream Football : "As an intense football capital, we aspire children to become better footballers & receive good education.”
As a part of this partnership, Borussia Dortmund fans in India could witness their favourite team coming down to India for a friendly match or two in the near future. Bur, more importantly that this is the fact the cream of the young footballing talent in India will now have a chance to be part of one of the best coaching set ups for youth in the world.
